ALBATROSS PRESS ROOM

IN HONOR OF THE ALBATROSS PUB   WHEREAS The Albatross Pub is Berkeley's oldest pub —founded in 1964— and continues to offer a haven for artful and animated conversations; and   WHEREAS The Albatross Pub brings a variety of live jazz and bluegrass performances to the city of Berkeley each week; and   WHEREAS The Albatross Pub has become an admired venue for local artists to display their works in its tasteful gallery space; and   WHEREAS The Albatross Pub is recognized as a purveyor of the "Slow Food Movement," providing a wide selection of beers representing the best local and international breweries in the world; and   WHEREAS The Albatross Pub functions as a community gathering spot by providing a variety of recreational pastimes, including darts, board games, pool, and the Sunday night pub quiz.   NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT I TOM BATES, Mayor of the City of Berkeley, do hereby proclaim October 7, 2009 as ALBATROSS PUB DAY In the City of Berkeley in celebration of their 45th Anniversary.
